The life of a WAHM’s child
Hi folks,
I like to share about the life being a child of a Work at Home Mom(or Dad) a.k.a WAHM. This is based on my own personal experience being brought up by a WAHM and WAHD(dad) as well as from my observation from the people around me.
When I was very young(before I started nursery at the age of 5), I used to be cared by my grandparents. Then from the moment I am five, my mom started to work from home doing tailoring/sewing to cared for the four of us.
In my memories, my childhood is filled with playtime with my neighbours(i.e. the kids around my age) and my siblings.
Mealtime is always a lovely time and the one that holds the strongest spot in my memory. I simply love the smell of home-cooked meals and love the process of helping my mom out in the kitchen.
And now, when I think of it, it is a pure luxury for kids with working parents who hardly cook during the weekdays I guess(I am currently a Full-Time Working Parents,(FTWP) myself). Being a FTWP myself, I would take every opportunity to prepare meals for my family but I also had to admit that I earned for the convenience of packed meal when time is running late.
Somehow, I cannot help but wonder what would be the memories of today’s children would reminisce when they grow up? Will it filled with the Kakak(a.k.a maid’s) lovely dishes or the varies computer games they played daily?
Now, that is one of the strongest point which makes me wanted to be a WAHM all along. Creating a happy and healthy childhood or create a good start for my kids. What about you? Have you thought of becoming a WAHM/D? And what makes you wanted to do so?
It is not all a bed of roses too being a WAHM and WAHM’s children.
Stay tuned for my next post about the challenges being a WAHM’s child.
Cheers!

Ros,
Me too always have the same question wonders in my mind. What are these kids feeling? How will they be when they grows up? What happens in their childhood memories?

I’ll write about my experience & interview with the kids that grows up in a nursery and my husband’s experience being raised by nannies later. It really convince me the path I have choosen is right, to be a WAHM! Right now have to feed my Baby first

I can never imagine how the kids being raised by other people (not their own mom) because my mum is a housewife. Lots of my childhood memories is all about my mum. Now I am a mother and wants the best for my child. So I go deeper to seek what’s in the kids heart that they have never told us, or probably we have never even bother to ask.
Here goes my interview with my nieces (13yrs and 10yrs old):
Me : Best tak dok kat nurseri?
Kakak : Tak best langsung!
Adik : Haah! Tak best..
Me : Kenapa? Apa yg tak best?
Kakak : Bile bergaduh, tak org nak sokong kita.
( I think what she’s trying to say is, when the need their parents they weren’t there for them)
Me : Abis tu kalau nangis sapa pujuk?
Adik : Kawan2 la…
(bagus bdk2 ni…)
Me : Cikgu tak pujuk?
Adik : Kalau Baby nangis br la cikgu pujuk.
Me : Kalau diberi pilihan, nak suh sapa jaga?
Kakak & Adik : Mestilah makkkk….
I wonder what will be ‘tertanam’ dalam hati dan kotak fikiran kanak2 ini. We weren/t there when they need us. So when they grows up (we are old) will they be for us when we need them? I will tell you my husband’s experience later (if I have the time to)

I have been a WAHM since 5 years ago and yes, it’s not all bed of roses to both me the WAHM and the kids. Esp peak season like bulan puasa. Mcm tak cukup kasih sayang pulak they all
My kids are still small so I still need a live-in helper to help out with chores and also with kids (my hubby works long hours). Yes I cook but not everyday (depends on the WAHM work for the day/week). Trying to finish up quotations, or thinking of new stuff in my little SOHO while kids are fighting about something just a few meters away requires mental strength..! But this is what I chose so this is what I must go through..and I STILL choose this because of all the perks that come with it..I can witness their “firsts”, they’re more open with me..and I know they feel “safe” that I’m around them most of the time.
At times when I just dont know how to prioritize, I try to remember that “I’m a wife and mother FIRST and businesswoman second..”

Terima kasih everyone for your sharings!
I think most of us would love to spend more time with our kids no matter what path we chose as a SAHM, WAHM or FYWP.
Zaza: Look fwd to your interview responses/results from the kids n hubby ya! Take ur time…life can b real bz and our priorities is to spend more time with our kids…
Eyriqazz: Yup brother, indeed even guys have such urge right even though WAHD is still rare here it seems…
eliss: Yup, tahu apa nak buat is the first step! Good Luck to us ya!
natifar784: Yup, having a target is good lar sis! Will learn from you and set a target too…a realistic one to work towards! Have dreams will comes true so long we work on our dreams rite! gambatei!
isabelle: Yup, I think for some of us, being a SAHM or WAHM might not be something we looking into actively. My sis is one..she cannot imagine herself looking after her kids alone 24/7. Even though like all parents, she loves to spent more time with them. So the question here for us, FTWP I think is the quality time spent with them when quantity is a luxury for us when time is concerned
Millie: Way to go Millie! U guys rock! WAHM is the BEST!
Jiji: Semangat yang amat bagus…any concrete plan dah? Let’s do it and execute our plans to achieve our dreams! Kena jugak ada proper planning untuk berjaya sebagai WAHM!
Thanks for all your feedback everyone!
Hope to hear more sharings from all…
Semoga kita berjaya mencapai matlamat masing2 dengan hati yang penuh gembira and tekad usaha gigih!
Cheers!
