Traffic ranking could be not so important for casual bloggers like us. But it is essential for internet business websites like Yahoo, Google etc.
It’s fun though to check your blog traffic rank once in a while. And, for that you have Alexa.
Nope. Alexa is not a girl. It’s a powerful tool used to rank website traffic.
On Alexa, the lower the Alexa ranking number, the more heavily visited the site. For example as at today, amazon.com (rank 32); weather.com (rank 118); cnn.com (rank 52); google.com (rank 1); Yahoo.com (rank 2).
These rankings are generally consistent with the amount of traffic they have (but not always).
Besides traffic ranking you can also check a few other things like page views and users location.
Let’s see how to do this. Go to http://www.alexa.com/
Key in your blog URL in Site Info located at the right side and click the Go button.
You’ll see a page displaying your blog information like this. As at today, MomBloggersPlanet.com traffic ranking on Alexa (it could be different rank in other traffic ranking tool) is 1,950,705. After 3 months, it’s still not a figure to be proud of…ha..ha..ha. But, the rank has improved from last month of 4,000,000+.
Just remember, the lower the Alexa ranking number, the better your blog ranking in Alexa. So, have fun!
