Creating little bookworms
Call me a bookworm (I don’t mind, really). I love reading books and have loved doing so since I was very young. I could read at age 4 and used to love reading all those picture books and fairy tales. My first grown-up book was The Count of Monte Cristo which I read (first time) at the age of seven. I drove my parents crazy because I kept asking the meaning of unfamiliar words, so much so that they gave me my own dictionary to look up the definitions myself. In the end I learned to skim over those words…

He grew up too fast. My eldest son, Yousof, started walking at age 9 months and started talking at 11 months. At the time I was a houseman at probably the busiest hospital in the country (Hospital Sultanah Aminah, JB). I practically missed it since I was out of the house at the crack of dawn and back after he had already gone to sleep (not counting the many on calls that meant I was away from him days at a time). Each time I caught a breath it seemed as if he was able to do something…

Staying up all night with a feverish child is part and parcel of being a mother. I think it’s probably listed somewhere in the job description. “Must be able to spend countless sleepness nights tending to an unwell child.”
A fever is defined as a temporary increase in the body’s temperature due to some disease or illness. A child is diagnosed as having a fever when the temperature is at or above one of these levels:
- Rectal temperature (measured through the baby’s bottom): 38 C
- Oral temperature (measured at the mouth-

Hi folks,
I believe most of us would agree we all learn a great deal in parenthood throughout our hands-on on this task.
One of the lesson I learnt is PRECISION. Yep, what and why PRECISION?
Handling two toddlers who are extremely choosy and “bossy”, I have to take their “orders” with precision as well as manage my task in precision timing!
Below are some scenarios where PRECISION plays an important role:
Scenario 1:
Toddler A and Toddler B “ordered” for night-time supper a.k.a. milk. One ordered for not-so-hot, another one ordered for hot and wants it to be 7oz.…
Report Card Day for Pre-schoolers
My kindergarten days were filled with mass garden hose showers and watching horror movies during lightning storms. Believe it or not the kindergarten was run by a retired staff nurse. She used to punish us by locking us in the toilets. I often endured this punishment as moral support for my brother who never seemed to be able to keep himself out of trouble.
Nowadays, my kids go to a nursery and kindergarten with structured curriculum and timetables. They have playtime and learn pre-reading, pre-writing, pre-maths, pre-science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, life skills and so much more. They also do fun…

I believe no matter we have maids, or whether we are working full time outside or working from home, we do cook sometimes or most of the time.
I am always on hunt for fast cooking ingredients and recipes to assist me to cook more often for my family. When the ingredients are close at hand and not to mentioned the basic cooking utensils are ever-ready(cleaned and easily accessible, not stored at top or high cabinet), we are more encouraged to cook. Agree?
Now, I am often cooking and packing lunch from home for hubby and myself in…
