Mommy Qastalani – Entering a New Phase of Life is Extremely Challenging. That’s the tagline that greeted me upon hopping to KaripapSayur blog for this review. The tagline is written on a white header decorated with a women, flowers and butterflies.

The owner used a template style named The Angel by Exotic Mommie. The blog layout is a 3-columned with two sidebars and a middle content. On the left sidebar, there are a Facebook badge, birthday ticker, some badges, blog archive, follower widget, some banners, links to favorite online shops, recent comments, twitter updates and hit counter. On the right sidebar, there are some banners, some information about the owner, labels, shoutbox, blog list and traffic feed.

The owner has made a wise decision to stick with white. You see, white is the choiced color of most of successful websites like Google and Yahoo (just to name a few). If you don’t like white and want to add some colors to your blog’s background, go for soft pastel colors. Striking or gloomy colored backgrounds are so not suitable for a blog, especially if you want to make money from it.

Content wise, the owner seems to update her blog regularly and that is another good point in blogging. The owner writes mostly about her baby, family and anything that relates to her life. Some blog posts are accompanied by relevant pictures which is another good point for a blog.

I’m giving this blog 3 star rating out of 5. This blog gets above average for activity and navigation while content, uniqueness and appearance scores an average.

Here’s a suggestion of thing that I think the ownner could do.

• To improve the content and uniqueness, the owner could consider adding more useful contents beside family stories. She could do more writing on subjects that she knows and would be useful for readers of her blog. Perhaps, some tips or tutorials on something?
• Navigation could be improve by adding an Archive in a ‘dropdown’ style and to move the Category further up, possible to the top of the sidebar. Both help the readers to find their way in the blog such as finding older posts etc.
• There are still many empty spaces on both sidebars (scrolling down towards the bottom) and at the footer. The owner could utilized the empty spaces for Google Adsense (skyscraper/leaderboard ad format) or other things that she think would benefits her blog (and readers).
