Lieyn – Blog Review
Inside my head??. that’s the tagline that greeted me upon hopping to Lieyn blog for this review. The tagline is written on a huge picture of the owner when she was a baby. The picture is completely used as the blog’s header.
The owner used a Blogger Template Minima style by Douglas Bowman. The blog layout is a 2-columned with one sidebar on the right. On the sidebar, there are nuffnang ads, a poll, some information about the owner, disclaimer, a family picture, links to favorite blogs and online shops, follower widget, some banners, a shoutbox, happy-o-meter, archives, labels and some awards.
The owner use white for the background which is the best color for any blog or website. It’s a good idea to stick to white because it’s easy to the eye. And, most big and succesful websites like Yahoo and Google also use white because of the same reason. Easy to read.
Content wise, the owner is doing good for activity by keeping regular posting. The owner writes mostly about her baby, family, personal life, friends, contest and other stuff. All blog posts are also accompanied by relevant pictures, and more than one in most cases which adds to the interest and appeal of the blog.
I’m giving this blog 3 star rating out of 5. This blog gets above average for content and uniqueness. Whereas, activity, appearance and navigation scores below average.

Here’s a suggestion of thing that I think the ownner could do.
- The owner could consider creating a new header. The current one is too big and the owner could resize the picture to make it fit in a smaller header. You see, a header is the FIRST thing someone see when visiting your blog. So, it’s important to make it interesting and unique because it’s like giving a personality to your blog. Properly designed logo make your blog looks great to visitors.
- The owner could consider using a 3-column template with 2 sidebars for a neat-looking blog.
- The black text on a white background is a good thing for a blog. However, I do not encourage to use all bold sentence or all capitalize letters for content.
- Navigation could be improve by using a ‘dropdown’ style both for Label and Category widget. And, move both the widgets further up on the sidebar. Both would help the readers to find their way in the blog such as finding older posts etc.
- To improve the content and uniqueness, the owner could consider adding more useful contents on subjects that she knows best.
