I just found a long lost friend whom I last met 18 years ago through a blog. It’s amazing what blog can do, isn’t it?
But, despite the happy feeling of meeting her again (virtually), I got a sad news that her second child is recently diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. 
Wan Samihah’s daughter, Shahirah is 10 years old. She is not feeling well with fever, and later diagnosed with “moderately large ASD secundum” by Dr Rosalie Yip of Sunway Medical Center.
ASD stands for ‘atrial septal defect’ – referring to the heart.
Shahirah condition is getting worst and she need a heart surgery as soon as possible. However, the estimated cost of operation is about RM25,000 and could be more for subsequent check ups.

Seorang mommy blogger, Wan Samihah memerlukan dana kewangan bagi menampung kos pembedahan anak perempuan beliau.
Anaknya, Shahirah berumur 10 tahun di sahkan mengidap ‘atrial septal defect’ – ASD iaitu JANTUNG BERLUBANG.
Hasil pemerhatian doktor, jantung anak ini didapati berlubang sebesar 20 mm. Pembedahan segera perlu dijalankan kerana jantungnya sudah membengkak. Paru-parunya juga “overloaded” disebabkan tekanan yang dihasilkan oleh lubang pada jantungnya.
Kos pembedahan dalam lingkungan RM25,000 atau lebih (termasuk kos rawatan susulan dan pelbagai kos sampingan).
Penyakit Shahirah didapati dari kriteria ‘congenital defect’ (kecacatan dari lahir). Disebabkan ia congenital case dan penyakit ini hanya dikesan ketika anaknya berumur 10 tahun, maka pihak insurance tidak mahu membayar kos perubatan.

zuhaini, dia ada insurance AIA but the insurance company doesn’t cover heart disease originating from birth walaupun baru detect after 10 years.. i rasa memang dalam polisi insurance critical illness mana2 insurance pun tak cover birth defect kan..

I xda insurans utk QZ pun. betol2 perlu ke? government hospital xbole harap ke? Entah, sbb I org susah,dr kecik kalo sakit ke ospital kerajaan la. bayar RM 1 utk register. Therefore I pk,QZ pn ptt mcm tu jgk la kot

karipapsayur, kalau sakit2 biasa memang bayar RM1 je kan at government, tapi critical illness like sakit jantung akan direfer ke Institut Jantung Negara.. tapi still kena bayar the specialist cost…
medical insurance memang penting especially Critical Illness punya coz you never what will happen in the future kan.

karipapsayur, for izzah i ambik Prudential Takaful-Link Cerdik (education+medical insurance), for myself and hubby take ACE insurance.. yg penting critical illness dan women cancer punya…sebab nowadays women cancer ni macam senang je jadik kan…
Prudential insurance ni ada gak critical illness tapi i dah ambik from ACE since 2000 so malas la nak tukar2.. anyway medical insurance ni boleh claim tax deduction ya

hmm..bile dah 10 years baru dpt tau..how come the docs cannot detect it? nways, yeap, insurance does not cover on issues like this. i have my own problem which my insurance cant cover. whatevr it is, i hope for the best. insyaAllah akan dapat sumbangan sebanyak itu. sbb org2 malaysia mmg baik hati.. my prayers for shahirah..

apa kata lil’mama buat badge utk ke page shahirah ni & mommy bloggers bole tempek kat blog masing2.
btw insurance coverage is not seindah khabar. my friend was admitted to see a pakar kat sebuah hospital swasta due to suspected ada sejenis penyakit. mula2 the good news was insurans cover so dengan senang hati stay sana. tp bila diagnose, dia tak ada pun penyakit berkenaan & have to bear all the costs sebab insurans taknak cover, except betul2 ada penyakit tu. hehe.

sian plak dengor.. agaknya masa kecik shahirah ni sihat & aktif kot.. tp sgt pelik juga bila tdk dpt detect masa bb.. so do they call if defect at birth…. adoiii, sungguh tak faham…
kakyong dulu ade masuk takaful utk anak2, tp bila x kerja, & xde duit nak byr ansuran rumah,,, terpaksalah korban kan takaful (lgpun dah lapse) & kuor kan seme duit & guna utk cover hse loan…
btw, mujur lah takaful, kalo company insurance lain, adakah boleh dpt balik duit tu…

Kadang2 dah ada insurance pun, bende2 camnie tak cover, takde insurance pun satu hal, ada insurance pun satu hal… Saya dah ada insurance untuk ketiga2 anak…
Macam kes Shahirah nie, kawan saya ada kes anaknya kene buat pembedahan di UKM, RM80,000.00 tapi at last cover juga .. , dia mintak beberapa tpt… dia mmg tak bayar langsung…
saya check balik dgn dia…

kesiannya. anak kwn sy pun gitu gak…jantung berlubang tp alhamdulillah dpt detect ms umurnya sebln. dh slmt dibedah dah…skrg ni alhamdulillah semakin sht. dia dan suaminya cikgu…perbelanjaan semua ditanggung..kalau kena byr pun skit je..mujur la..kalau tak jenuh nk cari duit
