Decades ago, the secret recipe by Colonel Sanders (KFC) was rejected by approximately 100 restaurants. If he’s still alive, I dare to bet; more than hundreds or maybe thousands restaurants will beg him to use him as the icon and use his fried chicken recipe for their restaurants.
Do you need more explanation? Colonel Sanders has a great fried chicken recipe as we can see why KFC franchised outlets has been mushrooming all over the world. Many years ago when Colonel Sanders first came out with the KFC recipe, people rejected the resipe because they couldn’t see what’s going to happen in the future, if they use the recipe. In short, they failed to see the potential of the recipe.
A good idea, a good masterpiece, a good opinion, a good advice and other good thing; is not easy to be accepted by others. In other words, a great thing has the tendency to be rejected. There are other examples apart from the founder of the KFC recipe’s story; that has connection with the rejection of good things.
What I want to say this time is about we should be prepared to receive rejections. Let’s say When we see somebody is making a mistake, we advise him but then he rejected our advice. We have a better suggestion to solve a problem but our suggestion is been rejected. We have a nice idea for something but the idea is been rejected. All of that is quite normal.
A rejected stuff doesn’t mean that it is not good. We might have chosen the wrong place or the wrong method of explanation. Maybe the person misinterpret the thing that we want to deliver.
In terms of idea, creation or suggestions, people normally make the mistake of looking at “who” is proposing the idea and not looking at “what” the person wants to deliver. It is such a shame!
Let’s use a simple example, I don’t know how to use a rifle and how to shoot but I’m confident that I can get a deer by shooting it using a rifle. (everybody is confident about this too). Due to my incompetency in using the rifle; if I start shooting, it won’t be a direct hit and the deer will run away. So, the result is of course negative which means I won’t get the deer.
What if I give the rifle to an expert shooter in using the rifle and I show him the deer’s spot. The chances for the expert shooter to be able to shoot the deer is quite big.
The fact is, sometimes an idea needs the expert who will be able to use it wisely. Despite all that, according to the rifle’s story before, it’s not impossible for me to master the skill in using a rifle through “learning” and “practising” processes.
Due to the circumstance, it’s better if I bring the expert shooter to the place in oder to increase my chances of getting some deers. But it will be a waste if the expert shooter doesn’t want to follow me to the deer’s spot just because I’m not an expert shooter. Even if I’m not an expert shooter, won’t I still be able to see deers and the perfect deer spot?
Another part is the idea has certain needs. What I mean is the needs to carry out the idea. I believe there’s somebody that has what it takes to carry out the idea even though I don’t have it. I can’t forget about the idea just because I don’t have what it takes to carry out it. Maybe there’s somebody else who has them? If yes, that person is one step ahead of me. And another step forward because he doesn’t need to think and plan about the idea.
He just need to use my idea and carry it out.
Let’s see a simpler example. Let’s say I have better fried chicken and burger recipes; better than KFC (And I said a simpler example?) The recipes need some ingredients and appliances that I am lacked of. Some of the ingredients are hard to be found here in Borneo and some appliances are quite expensive. However, I believe I can use them and they are better than KFC secret recipe. Maybe you have the ingredients and the appliances for the recipes? If yes, why don’t you use the recipes.
That’s the harsh reality. Sometimes an idea needs certain ingredients and appliances that I don’t have to make it happens. If you own the ingredients and the appliances, won’t you be interested to use it and make it happens?
Nevertheless, not everyone has good idea and able to plan it carefully. But everybody can put his/her best efforts. Everytime we try, there’ll be some “winners” and some “losers”. For those who never even put an effort to try, they’ll never “lose” and definitely never experience “success”.
To conclude, when we are trying to tell something, be prepared to be rejected even though the thing we are trying to say is good and great. Not every good and great thing will be easily accepted and make people admire us. Not to mention that the better and the greater thing is, the rejection is going to be bigger.

Oh Matun duduk US ke sekarang ni?

Salam Syigim. Iya benar, saya suka ayat kamu yang ini:
“opportunity is everywhere, it’s our will to keep trying that enable us to spot it, also with a lil bit of luck! kalo masa awal2 nk naik kita kena mintak tolong org xde salahnye..”.
Ha’ah, kat tempat tinggal saya ni pun ada seorang makcik ni, dia buka gerai jual kuih sahaja, boleh pakai Hilux dan kelisa lagi. Bukan ada income lain. Jual kuih dan katering saja. Kuih pun bukan dia buat, banyak dia jualkan kuih orang sahaja. Ambil komisen dalam RM1 dia amik 20sen.
