I'm a work-at-home life coach and mum to 4 children, writing in from London, U.K. Being a WAHM is a dream come true for me and honours my values of independence, family and freedom. There are sacrifices but they are definitely worthwhile. A lot of the stuff we used to give our kids were not really necessary. Sometimes it was just keeping up with the Joneses! We can still have pampering beauty sessions. You could organize a girl's day together where you do each other's hair, nails and other treatments. You can work out together in place of going to a gym. And you can share the childcare on a rotational basis, for some kid-free time. There are ways to keep the things we really need, and it's a time to throw out what we really don't! What values influenced your decision to become a WAHM/D? Or if you're still aspiring, what values attract you to this option? Knowing your values, or heart-felt WHY can help you stay committed to "the cause." When you need to make a sacrifice you can be encouraged that you are living authentically, expressing your true self and living your best life.
