It’s the middle of Ramadhan already (how fast time flies). I have yet to have iftar (breaking of fast) at a restaurant or buffet. To be quite honest, having iftar outside is quite a daunting task with 3 small children in tow. So I have decided to only go when necessary (or when the right people ask- closest of friends only).
Unless of course I can find a place that can fullfill my Iftar wish-list:
- Halal- No doubt. No compromises.
- Must have a proper and comfortable ‘surau’ – of adequate size, with a proper place to perform abolution and enough space to pray comfortably. Some places fashion makeshift praying areas where guys and gals haveto squeeze in together and queue for so long. I prefer to settle my solat first before eating the main meal.
- Spread out buffets- lots of food, a variety of choices and the layout must be people traffic friendly. If not, then you’ll end up having to queue forever just to get some rice.
- Food diversity- iftar with 3 picky eaters is hard. It would be great if the buffet had rice dishes, and pasta dishes and soups. Basically any number of things I can try to entice my kids with.
- Child friendly- lots of baby chairs, ample room between the tables and a place I can just let them have some room to let off some steam and manouver (like and indoor mini-playground..hehe).
- Great food and great company- must be worth the money I paid (not to steep- children free please), and I wanna go with child loving people who would LOVE to take care of my kids while I eat ..ahahha.. no chance!
PS: I don’t mind not eating out at all if it meant that I could have a peaceful and lovely home-cooked meal with the one I love.

I am blessed with a supportive hubby, usually if pegi buffet, I will eat to my heart content, the son will be taken care of by him, makan sampai puas hati..but to mothers yg kena handle anak2 mmg kesian la tgk dorang..

This ramadhan was not easy for me either… nak g buffet, memang kena ajak my adik sekali… so we all 3 org (my adik, my hubby and me) will take turn nak amik makanan masing2… 2org budak kecik yg tgh lasak memang payah nak handle sensorang… kalau nak mkn dgn aman kena bg si Adik tido dulu… so pukul 7 standby susu, bagi dia minum sambil tepuk2, nasib baik dia tido, nasib xbaik dia xnak tido.. terpaksa mkn sambil riba dia lah… kalau duk diam xpe…badan semangat… lenguh tgn gak lah… tp thn ni br 2 kali je g buffet kot…

it’s great when the kids co-operate by eating well and not being fussy or throwing tantrums.. and having people willing to take turns with you is also good

Kalau Tifa , penuhkan perut anak dulu , so dia tak dok kacau dah …
Kadang- kadang dia makan sama-sama ngan kita , we have lot of fun, kadang-kadang dia pula yang dok nak suap kita …

nia, pernah bw e-ein utk ramadhan buffet(jemputan)..
then one of my friend yang belum kawen lagi, he said, ‘ni yg i tak suka,,susah bwk anak makan buffet nih”.Then replied by my another friend,” u belum kawen, kalau dah ada anak, mesti tak kisah, mesti la nak bawak gi mana2 kan..”hihi..good one!kudos to my friend who said so!
anyway e-ein is quite behave that day.walaupun dia dah makan kat umah, dia makan lagi kat sana, especially buah2an sepinggan leh abis ..rekod paling lama dia duduk kat high chair, sejam !biasa nya 2 minit pun tak tahan!

puasa ni blom lagi makan buffet though i sukaaaaaa sgt buffet style!
but yes, eating while having a kid on my lap tu dah biasa sgt! moms ni mmg kena multitasking!
i agree psl ‘ample space’ tu. ade skali penah rasa nk gi this buffet at an indon rest, but sempit sgt and the tables are so close to the buffet line! me with strollers and 2 tots? fuggedaboutit! hihi

Oh yes, there are certain ‘sacrifices’ we have to make after having kids.
And I agree about the place needs to be spacious!
This year, mmg makan la kat rmh je…although if mkn buffet or just any meal outside and the tot is not-really-behaving, hub always lets me eat first, sampai puas2, but I do know when he is eating, he doesn’t seem to enjoy it as much as we eat together, and its as though we’re rushing (cos budak restless, bored of playing etc) and not enjoying it enough.
In another year or so I guess we can attempt again

how lucky! yup.. I guess its one of the many ‘small’ sacrifices ..hehe… it’ll be ok once they can all sit and behave and eat by themselves
