We always love to see our children in their pink of health.Most parent are worried when their child is not well. Whether it is a baby, a toddler or an older child, the worries are equally the same. However , child sickness are a “must have” event in raising up your child. Fever, cough , flu, diarrheoa and chicken pox are the most common illness that you and your child will be experiencing.
What to do
This concern usually more applied to working parents. If you are having a maid or a babysitter, and you can’t leave work, what you can do is leave a clear instruction of how to attend to your child. But if your child is being sent to a daycare center, it’s quite difficult since they may send your child home to prevent infections to other children. If this happens, you may have to ask relatives (if you have one stays near you) or if your neighbour are trustworthy and are like a family to you, why not?
Caring your child,yourself
However, as for me, eventhough the babysitter is willing to attend to my baby, I usually will take a day off to care for her. The leave can be taken from your annual leaves if you have them, or discuss it with your boss about this. As example there are also unpaid leave if your child is not recovered after a few days.Most employers usually understand about this and you can also opt to work from home as your work can be send by email .You can also call colleagues and your boss at your workplace to get updates. If your child is sick for more than 2 days, you can also considering taking turns with your husband. However, the main point here is to get you making a list of reliable person(s) that you can contact if you cannot leave work due to important meetings or dateline. But you must remember, children are the most precious gift from God to us, it’s okay to sacrifice a little as long as you know your child are in the right hands – YOURS .

As a mother i will take an emergency leave if my son is sick . Most of my annual leave will spare for the emergency case esp related to the children. I can’t leave them to the babysitter as the responsibility is belong to me.

alhamdulillah… my baby setakat ni kalo demam suam gitu2 jek. still active. berkat breastfeeding kot. tapi cuti byk gak terkorban sebab babysitter ada macam2 hal..! wat to do. dia jaga my bb sgt baekkkkk..

I wont feel at ease if i were to work while my baby is sick at home. Most of the times, i would prefer to look after him myself despite having maid at home…bukan tak percaya,cuma lagi senang hati bila kita jaga sendiri.
Penah skali my baby kene HFM disease..admitted to the ward…mmg wajib sgt2 la ambik cuti, takmo pk pasal keje..yg penting anak sihat. Nasib baik company considered those leave as compationate leave, 2 hari tuu…hehe~

Nice and useful article. I used to take emergency leaves too while I was a working mom. But now, I have quit my job and being a stay at home mom working online, it’s kind of easier to take care of my family.
My kid is already 8 years old now but when he has his asthma attack, all things stopped for me!
But I am blessed to be able to take care of him now.

arrgghhh..this topic hit me! I dah kena ‘sound’ with my boss, no more MCs..he thought I took MC to attend my sick baby but actually I am really sick! I think he think all moms will do that..but in my case I take leaves not MC to take care my baby if he is sick.sigh….
for common fever+flu+cough, I still send my baby to daycare but strong ones like diaorrhea, I take care him on my own.

most of the time, I amik EL. tp kena sabar untuk dengan pandangan manager yang tidak punya anak. I mean I pity her, but there will be situation when dia memang tak faham. or buat2 tak faham? +P

Baru je last week my baby had a fever..lama jugak la..about 4 days..on off on off dia nyer temperature..then, 1 day, tetiba temp dia naik smp 38D…i take a half day off while my en. suami take a day off (sbb sblm ni dia berlagak sgt AL dia byk lg…heheheh)
few days lepas tu, masa i amik dia@bbsitter’s, she said yg badan dia dh naik merah2, which is campak…luckily budak jenis yg nanah2 tu..jenis campak kecik2, kaler merah…b4, bbsitter tu dh warned i, his demam could be sbb nk kena campak sbb on off je panas dia…nasib baik gak discover campak dia tu hari Jumaat, so 2 weekends tu lepak ngan mama n papa je (rosak plan nk gi MV that weekend..huhuhu)..bawka gi klinik, doktor kata kena campak skit…balik tu, i menangis sbb sedih tgk keadaan dia…bayangkan such a cheerful boy, bila demam je melekat je kt i..sedih tgk..sehari suntuk x dgr dia ketawa…asik merengek je..:(..Alhamdulillah skang dh aktif balik..dh start his ‘climbing’ n ‘mengemas’ activities…
